Festival is an event celebrated by community and centering on some cultural and religion characteristics, it often marked as national holiday. Festival often serve to fulfill communal purposes such as commemoration and thanking to the god and goddess. 

People thought that festival is a mystical ritual with its very strict rules, but nowadays festival has become an entertainment. Government can use festival as an alternative way to promote national identity and also to increase national tourism potential.
Here is the world’s famous festivals around the world :

1. Festival Danau Sentani, Indonesia


Festival Danau Sentani is an annual event held in Papua, Indonesia. Festival Danau Sentani held for the first time in 2007, this festival Featuring traditional culture, traditional dances along the local songs. This festival is an icon of maintaining the diversity between religion and race.

2. Glastonbury, England


Glastonbury festival is an annual music festival in England many famous bands and singer join this festival such as Coldplay, Ariana Grande etc. Aside from this incredible music festival, there are another activities that you can do such as wading through the mud with your rain boots while camping with all of your friends.

3. Running Of The Bulls, Spain


This 'insane' festival held in Spain, why I called this festival insane, it because you have to run with the bulls if you’re less concentration you will be rammed by all the bulls. Aside of that risk, this festival can attract tourists interest to attend and participate in this event.

4. Rio de Janeiro Carnaval, Brazil


This festival held every year before lent and considered as the biggest carnival in the world with two million people per day on the streets. Rio Festival is a carnival featuring parade fashion show and traditional dances.

5. La Tomatina, Spain


La tomatina is an annual event held in Spain as a thank to the harvest time, people in this event have to throw the tomatoes to another (tomatoes war) when this event is over the people are full of the red tomatoes color but they are not mad, cause they have fun.

Festival or cultural events is an interesting event people loves to see the ethnicity, besides festival also can boost our feelings in community ignoring diversity of religion and race. The government can use this occasion to promote the national identity and potential tourism.
